Gas and flame detection with shutdown logic for LPG Storage Facility Projects in Africa

01

Service focus

Gas detection and shutdown logic provide early warning of LPG release and initiate defined actions before a flammable cloud escalates. Detector coverage is based on release points, LPG vapour density, ventilation, prevailing wind, congestion and occupied locations rather than on a uniform grid. Alarm levels and voting are aligned with operator response, ventilation, equipment isolation and site emergency philosophy.

02

Engineering delivery

Engineering produces a detector-location study, instrument specifications, alarm setpoints, voting logic, cause-and-effect and interfaces with ESD, fire alarm and control systems. Power supply, communication, fault monitoring, bypass management and fail-safe behaviour are defined. Commissioning includes calibration gas, response-time tests, alarm and trip simulation, remote indication, power-failure recovery and verification that every shutdown output reaches the intended valve or machine.

03

Deliverables and project value

The owner receives detector layouts, calibration requirements, logic diagrams, alarm matrices, test records and maintenance intervals. Correct placement and transparent logic reduce blind spots and nuisance trips while giving operators time to isolate a release and evacuate if necessary. Periodic proof testing remains practical because each initiating device and final action is traceable.
